lace making workshop
This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to learn the traditional and beautiful craft of lace making, brought brilliantly up to date with colour.
The first part of the day will be about getting to know the stitches used in Torchon lace, learning how to move the bobbins across the pillow to create different ways of weaving the threads to form the different stitches. After getting to grips with the technique, you will create a pre-designed piece of lace. There will be a vast array of colours to choose from if you wish to use more than one colour. A rainbow of colours can look fantastic, equally tone-on-tone can be wonderfully elegant. Your finished work will be used to create a greetings card or bookmark or, of course, you maybe so delighted with your work that you choose to frame it for all to see!
Your knowledgable tutor started making lace nearly 25 years ago and has a wealth of experience to share with you about lace making. The workshop is designed for complete beginners and is also suitable for those with a little experience. The workshop will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm and will include a pause for a ploughman-style lunch.
Places on this workshop are limited to 6.
