Stone Carving Workshop

How very exciting, the opportunity to create your own stone carving.

Carving stone into sculpture is an activity steeped in history; using hand tools to turn a piece of rough stone into something of great beauty.

This workshop is designed for complete beginners and will be a great introduction to working in stone, specifically, relief carving.

Your experienced and knowledgeable tutor with first acquaint you with the Portland stone and the tools you will be working with, before guiding you through the process of completing your stone carving - a simple leaf design, approximately eight inches square in size. We will have a choice of leaf designs to choose from.

The workshop will run from 10.00am until 4.30pm. All materials and tools will be supplied, including a workshop apron for you to wear during your day. There will be a pause for a ploughman-style lunch partway through the day, which is also provided. Due to the nature of this workshop, we recommend wearing suitable clothing and footwear.
